The Orientale Lumen XXVIII Conference will be held on June 17-20, 2024 in Washington, DC on the theme of “Primacy in the 21st Century.”

Speakers, in-person and by remote video, will present their reflections on three agreed statements of the Catholic-Orthodox Theological Dialogue:

  • Ravenna (2007): “Ecclesiological and Canonical Consequences of the Sacramental Nature of the Church: Ecclesial Communion, Conciliarity and Authority”
  • Chieti (2016): “Synodality and Primacy During the First Millennium: Towards a Common Understanding in Service to the Unity of the Church”
  • Alexandria (2023): “Synodality and Primacy in the Second Millennium and Today”

A panel discussion will follow each plenary lecture. Other events may include a visit to the Museum of the Bible and a special video of the “Light of the East-4” pilgrimage to Constantinople and the Holy Land in July 2023. New books of Eastern Christian Publications will be available, and the book Ecumenical Documents on Primacy will be given to each participant.
